Personal finance has always felt like more than balances, categories, and charts to me. It is the quiet record of what I am building: rent paid, debt lowered, plans funded, and tiny choices repeated until they become a life. I wanted a way to see that bigger picture, not just sort another transaction.

The problem is, personal finance apps rarely make that easy. I get tired of shamey alerts, manipulative upsells, and dashboards that make people feel behind before they even begin.

Technology should help, but most apps add ceremony. Connect every account, pay for another subscription, absorb a wall of charts, then keep feeding the machine. I still see people using Notes, envelopes, or spreadsheets that only make sense to them. I have been there too. When I wanted something personal, calm, and honest, it felt like I had to build it myself.

That frustration is why I started building Maokoto.

Why Maokoto?

Maokoto is my attempt to build the personal finance app I wish I had: refined enough to open every day, flexible enough for real life, and opinionated only where it reduces anxiety.

I want money to feel like a living plan, not a monthly scolding. With Maokoto, you will be able to shape a financial plan around pay cycles, obligations, goals, and the uneven rhythm of real life.
